John H You guys just can't give it a rest, can you? I don't understand his nasty attitude. Talk about negative Karma! I've told you what it is. Herring and "Smithers" can't help themselves. They work overtime at facilitating strife. It's their rice bowl. Hey, if I call you an asshole and you respond, that's two posts. But the pair of them will add 53 comments each. You tell me who has the problem. :-) Well it was a nice thread till Herring piped in. At least Reggie showed more class with his nice comments. John is once again showing himself to be the person he blames other people of being. |

Some reason you deleted, "Glad it wasn't serious, but I'd sure be looking at replacing the manifolds and risers before it becomes something serious in a boat nigh on ten years old." Does deleting portions of posts make yours more credible, Harry. I know some folks will stoop to this, but I'd thought better of you! -- -- John H ****************************************** ***** Have a Spectacular Day! ***** ****************************************** |

Yup, I'm trying to facilitate JimH getting an answer to his thermostat question. Don, many people bring misfortune upon themselves by their own actions. My failure to replace the manifolds and risers in my boat when I should have brought me some misfortune last year. -- John H ****************************************** ***** Have a Spectacular Day! ***** ****************************************** |

The marina replaced the impeller, lower unit pump and thermostat on the boat yesterday. Out of 12 blades on the impeller, 3 were totally gone, 3 were half gone and the remainder had cuts and nicks on the ends. This was not damage that happened in one day but it certainly caused my overheating on July 1st. JimH, In the other thread concerning the 140 degree thermostat, I mentioned I would be hesitant to do business with a the mechanic who forgot to change the impeller as requested and you wondered where I got that idea. I was thinking about this thread. When I read this, I thought you were saying you asked the marina to replace the impeller and they forget. I have always viewed mechanics like any other service oriented business , including doctors and dentists, you really do need to trust them 100%. It might just be me, but this guy would have lost my trust. If the marina replaced the impeller when I asked them to earlier this season I would never have had the overheating problem. I will let them slide on this one but will make sure it the impeller is replaced every 2 years in spring prior to launch. No sense monkeying around with a $40 part. After I installed the VHF radio and antenna on the boat today I took it out for a test run. It runs good and the temperature did not go above 155 even at WOT or low idle. So far it looks like the engine or risers did not suffer any damage and I may have dodged a bullet this time. With sunny skies and temperatures in the 80's forecast for this weekend, combined with light southerly winds (meaning a flat Lake) we will be on the boat both Saturday and Sunday. My daughter came home for the weekend and will be joining us, making it even more special. Maybe our string of bad luck has ended.......most likely due to good Karma according to some. ;-) -- Reggie That's my story and I am sticking to it! |
