I just bought a 1989 35 hp merc with remote and I have no Idea how to
hook the remote up to the motor. What I have found: I've hooked up the throttle and shift linkage and the large wiring harness. Along with the wiring harness there is a small wire looks like a ground or something. I have no Idea. The motor has an external oil res and pump. Two battery leads come in and then two large leads run to the motor with three small wires (black brown and purple). - The purple has a male connector and we found a red wire around the motor with the matching female but I would like confirmation. - The black and brown wires have the Circle "screw down" end and I have now Idea where they go. - The large Red and Black leads need to go to the starter some how but I'm new to all this. Any help??? Joe |

![]() I figured it out. The neg line from the battery attaches to the starter as the ground and the positive line attaches to the solenoid. The auto Blend system that I had... well I HAD. I cut it out cause I just don't trust it. Mixing isn't hard and if you mix 50:1 you always get 50:1. Joe |
