A charitable question...

To make a long story short, I've kind of half-baked this idea last evening and mulled it over today and wondered if anybody has ever been involved with setting up a charitable foundation. Anybody? I was involved with setting up a "not-for-profit" corporation once. Although not a charitable foundation, I suspect some of the issues with the IRS requirements are similar. The content and wording of the bylaws are critical and I would strongly suggest working with an experienced attorney to avoid/minimize future hassels with the IRS. Anytime there is untaxed money floating around they seem to take a strong interest. :-) |

Yes, it is definitely way cool and provides a lot of real value to friends and family when we are cruising out in the boondocks somewhere. Here's another good one: http://shiptrak.org/ They get their data via APRS but produce a written log and a nicely plotted position map. Plug in my call sign at the top of the screen. |
