Jim Hertvic - a liar...

Since you insist Kevin:

John claimed "I'm especially appreciative of you folks. Seventeen
rec.boaters have
donated a total of $825, for an average donation of $48.53.
Remarkable!"

Later another person from rec.boats donated another $450 to get him at
his goal. That made $1,275 in rec.boats contributions.

John donated $650. He did not triple any donations......he did not
double any donations.....he did not match the rec. boats contributions,
although at one point or another he claimed he would do so.

As I said before I also have a personal interest in this cause and have
contributed to it since it's inception. I was only asking John to live
up to his promises for the betterment of the cause and to make good on
his promise.

He didn't. But his $650 contribution was still noteworthy.

Fair enough? Now can we drop it and move on Kevin?

You have no interest in the "cause",you have done everything to
discourage JohnH and others from contributing to the "cause", you only
have an interest in belittling JohnH for his efforts.

You are a little person and you prove this with every one of your posts
concerning this matter.

Fair enough?

Now can we move on?

Good Grief, Jim.

Please read this very carefully because it's the last attempt to prevent you
from continuing to make an ass of yourself.

Initially, there was no promise to match, double or triple contributions.
Several rec.boats participants donated during that timeframe.

When the process started bogging down a bit, and the end of the fundraiser
was drawing near, JohnH offered to match any further donations, effectively
"doubling" it. He even offered to "triple" any donation made by a select
few, but apparently none of the select few were inclined to respond. No big
deal.

When the donated tally was at $4,100 (900 bucks short of the goal), a $450
donation was made, with a challenge to JohnH to "cough it up", meaning to
match it. Doing so would bring the tally to the goal of $5,000.

JohnH, true to his word, immediately matched the 450 dollar donation,
bringing the total to the goal.

So, you are wrong. The initial $450 donation did *not* "get him to his
goal" as you claim. His matching donation, which you say he didn't do .....
did.

Do you now understand? I hope so, because your misguided representation of
this issue is causing unnecessary ill feelings.

I'm betting he won't get it! If he does, he certainly owes yet another
of his apologies.

Jim can not understand how his claims are flawed. I don't understand
why he can't it's so damned simple. If he'd just factor time into his
idiotic conclusions, he'd find that John has done exactly as he said he
would, AFTER he made statements.

Someone has to say it, in order to raise the level of this conversation:

George W. Bush sucks. Big time.

Heh ... *this* time your comment was welcome, Harry.

I sincerely hope he gets it. Otherwise, his posts will live for eternity
in the archives of Google and someday, when we're all gone and some of
Shortwave's friends have taken over planet Earth, they'll still be trying to
explain it to him.

I'm for bringing back duels. In fact, I'll host them on my mowed field.
Shotguns at 25 yards are probably best for this group, since I doubt
there are more than three posters here who can hit the side of a barn at
that distance with a handgun.

Hey...I could sell tickets and send the proceeds to a favorite charity.
And no need for funerals; we'll just plow the losers into the ground for
fertilizer.

Now, Jim's going to think that you are going to match everyone's
contributions to any charity anywhere, at anytime because of that
statement.

You could invite Dick Cheney as a 'guest celebrity shooter'.

Lets get back to the usual things we scrap about.
What's with the hockey fans in California booing the Canadian National
Anthem? Didn't we go through this exercise a few years ago when some
French fans in Montreal booed the US anthem & tit for tat episodes
followed. Always thought Californians were more progressive.
(must have been Colic Bill & his two friends causing trouble)
