Out drive painting question
Hi All,
I have an 86 OMC Cobra drive in my boat. Last year I wired brushed the drive, painted it with primer and then with antifouling paint. At the end of the season pulled the boat out of the water to find all of the paint off the drive. I did prepare the drive according to manufacturers directions. Is there a better paint for out drives then the primer and then anti fouling drive paint scheme? I was hoping for epoxy paint that I could use as the primer and then the normal out drive antifouling paint. I do not really mind the cost as much as the bare aluminum in the salt water. I am open to all suggestions. Thanks Mark. p.s. I prepared the drive by wire brushing the crud off the drive then washed with dishwashing soap. Let dry for 24 hrs then painted with primer, dry for 24hrs then painted with the antifouling paint. |
