Default cedar strip kayak - source for wood?

I want to build a cedar strip kayak, and I want
to mill my own strips. I am having trouble
finding a source of (boat) cedar. Ideally,
somewhere near San Jose, CA, but mail order
would be definitely better than nothing.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Thanks,

Bill

In california it's probably easier to find redwood. It has about the
same strenghth and weight if you like the look of it.

Find yourself an issue of Wooden Boat magazine, several ads in rear portion
listing vendors of various wood and boat building supplys. Great read also.
Most any libary I would think
