There's a guy named Steve Baker who posts in the mountain-bike group.
He designs and builds boats. He's a nice guy and I am sure he would be
willing to help, he is on the opposite coast, but he seems very
knoweldgeable about boats and their construction. I'm sure he uses
various woods in his boat building and may have the information you
seek.
