Best reason of all: If your glass lenses shatter and blind you, it'll be the
end of your newsgroup messaging. I won't be able to harass you any more.

Talk about distortion, JimH is a brainless know nothing flaming ass. His
musings are unworthy of response.

it.

Interesting that you are interested in distortion free vision with your
warped view of the world, Krause.

I need to upgrade my crappy sunglasses now that we are back into
boating. The last nice pair I had ended up in Lake Erie 2 years ago
while on a cruise on our friends Lyman.

Who makes a decent pair of polarized sunglasses with glass lenses? I
think my last pair was a Sunglass Hut proprietary brand......no longer
available.

My eyes are pretty sensitive to sunlight. Any suggestions?

Glass? You don't mean glass. You mean high quality plastic.

Why not glass?

Ditto. I've tried sunglasses made with different types of plastic
lenses. Seems like all had some level of distortion or aberration.
Nothing compares to glass IMO.

I agree.

Ever had a properly made pair of plastic prescription shades that cost more
than $100?

That's about what they charged me the last couple of times for custom
made clip ons.

The polarized Aviators by RayBan is not a bad way to go.

They SUX!!!!! Last 2 pairs I had both broke at the temple piece.
Warrantee? 3 months, and you have to have the receipt and costs to send
them back. For the money they get, forget ever buying Rayban again.

So they pay $2 including shipping to the USA. So they should have no
problem replacing them, for customer satisfaction. Still gives them a 1000%
margin.

If you have prescription shades ground, even if they are for no
correction, you will get a nice light weight sunglass without any
distortion. If you want to get a nice looking pair of sunglasses plan
on paying $150 - $450 for the frames alone.

Seriously - if you
haven't had high quality plastic lenses, you're missing something. You
generally have to go to a small optician to get them. The Pearle Vision /
Lenscrafter type places generally don't supply them.

Doug,
What do you mean the franchise opticians don't supply them? Do you mean
they don't supply good quality plastic lens? My wife has always
purchased her prescription glasses and sunglasses (ground plastic) from
Lenscrafter's and has never complained about distortion

I don't wear prescription glasses (yet), but I have tried some high quality
(over 100 bucks) plastic sunglasses. You will think I am nuts but I ride a
Harley and for some reason I have never felt comfortable viewing through
plastic lenses, even the expensive ones. There is a distortion that I just
don't like. I've noticed the same thing in some glass lenses as well, but
not to the same degree as the plastic. A well made pair of lightweight
glass sunglasses provide a non-distorted view that I am comfortable with
when riding.

RCE

It wasn't distortion, it was vibration. Harley.... hmmf.
