How do YOU define "most powerful"? Do you know anything about handguns?
If you are considering just the size of the bullet, look here...

or here...

mid 1980's and I went to a gun show at Norco, Calif. You could shoot any of
the guns there. Was about a buck a shot for the 454 casull. Saw what it
did to a steel plate, cool. And also what it did to the shooter. No
thanks at shooting it.

It's one thing to have a gun like that - quite another to actually
shoot it with any kind of accuracy.

It is also one thing to clean up after shotting a burglar with a 9 mm
and quite another to clean up after shooting some with a 454 Casual.

Can you imagine your wife (or the average male) trying to use this gun
in an emergency or using this gun for target practice.

And should you ever have to use the .454 Casull for its intended
purpose, the last thing in the world you’ll be paying attention to is
recoil...or cleanup. Using full-power .454 ammunition, the Casull's
purpose is close-up protection from in-your-face predators with fangs
and claws. If your original intention was to land that salmon when momma
grizz suddenly takes exception to your presence, that Casull will come
in mighty handy.

Moron.

The "intended purpose" (according to Dick Casull) for that caliber was
hunting. In every test you see in the gun publications, the muzzle flash is
enormous. In a dark encounter with a bad guy, the flash would blind you, and
the second shot, which you MUST be ready for, would be next to impossible to
aim accurately. You could probably find ONE gun shop owner who'd recommend
such a gun for defense, but he'd probably be a descendant of the same
toothless idiot who spawned you.

It appears ( http://www.magnumresearch.com/images/BFR.pdf ) that this
handgun will also fire the .410 shotgun shell, or something similar. That
may be the best of both worlds for someone who wanted a lot of home
protection. Hide a dozen or so of these around the house and you'd feel
quite secure - until the grandkids came over!
