"calhoun" wrote in message . com... Looking at a nice little 24' house boat. Well maintained. Runs fine. Has an OMC cobra drive. I like the boat but am scared of the drive. Is it really as hard to get parts as all say? Is there a transom plate or some thing to convert to a mercruiser? I have owned a few mercruisers and know there are parts, for them, everywhere. Do you suspect parts will be a problem because it's OMC, or because of the particular *type* of drive? Is it no longer made? No longer made, for at least a decade. Also, some of those OMC outdrives are very difficult to service and adjust. Very few techs around anymore that know how. Google up OMC "Stringer". Eisboch Google up "OMC Cobra doesn't even bear a resemblance to or share parts with OMC stringer". its hard to find tech for cobras too. they are getting older. Maybe that is why we keep having to get repaired. We are getting old, and can not find techs that know of our problems? |
