Thunderbird 1.5 Released Scott MacGregor writes: "The final release of Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5 is now available for download from getthunderbird.com. Users of RC1 should see the update soon. If you are using RC2, then you already have 1.5 final." "Thunderbird 1.5 introduces several new features including a software update system, spell check as you type, built in phishing detector, auto save as draft, and support for deleting attachments from email messages. Message filtering has also been improved with new filter actions for replying and forwarding. Saved search folders can now search folders across multiple accounts." "More details can be found in the Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5 Release Notes, and the support forum staff is available for questions. " "I wanted to thank everyone in the mozillaZine community who helped test the alphas, the betas, and the release candidates that went into this release. Thank you for trusting Thunderbird with your email throughout the development and release cycle for 1.5. I'm looking forward to working with all of you on 2.0 and beyond!" For more info: www.mozillazine.org Thanks, I have found Thunderbird to be a vast improvement over OE. I still use Outlook for my email, but Thunderbird is a great FREE Newsgroup reader. I find it RSS News Reader to be lacking over some of the others News Readers. -- Reggie ************************************************** ********************* If you would like to make rec.boats an enjoyable place to discuss boating, please do not respond to the political and inflammatory off- topic posts and flames. ************************************************** ********************* |

If you are working on a document in your word processor, and then shut down the computer and come back to the doc tomorrow, do you add your new work at the top of the document? |

I never understood those who say they cannot bottom post because the cursor is at the top of the page when they start a reply. |

If you are working on a document in your word processor, and then shut down the computer and come back to the doc tomorrow, do you add your new work at the top of the document? Tell, me. When you are involved in a conversation with twenty people at a party, do you repeat the entire previous conversation before adding your new thoughts? Does the next person to speak then repeat the whole previous conversation, including what you just said, before adding their new thoughts? Commodore Joe Redcloud© Whether you post at the top or the bottom, you generally leave some or all of the preceding text, which is analogous to other people in a conversation having already heard what was said before. The reason to post at the bottom is that most people read from the top of a page to the bottom, unless they're on their 18th cocktail. There's simply no good reason for top posting. |

There is simply no good reason to care either way. The real problem is those who don't trim appropriately. In conversation, it is normal to work in a brief clue as to what you are replying too. ie: As John said, you can't just paint a rusty car to make it run better. In my experience that rarely does much at all to improve performance. You don't need to repeat everything that has been said in the last hour to give your comments context and relevance. A properly trimmed reply is equally easy to handle wheter it is top posted or bottom posted. If someone has to scroll through 600 lines to get to your added text, you are not doing it correctly. If you feel you just HAVE to repost the whole thread in your reply for it to make sense, you really should top post. You get extra points for using white space, by the way. |
