Its all a matter of perspective. Powerboats doing 30 knots are looking a mile ahead, and since that's only 120 seconds of their time, they assume that the relationships are fixed at that point. The sailors doing 4 knots are only looking 200 yards ahead and never see the powerboat. Bill keeps talking about the other boat turning 15 feet in front of him, but doesn't consider that when the turn started he was probably a half mile away. |
