Default outdrive oil change

I have a 69 mercruiser1 on the upper drive I have a fill hole and a vent
hole.I know to fill through the fill hole untill oil comes out the vent
hole.
On the lower end I have a hole in the very bottom and 2 up top.One says
vent and the otherone says flusher (I think)
Do I fill from the bottom hole untill the oil comes out the vent hole
too.
What is the flusher hole for?

Default outdrive oil change

Hi Pickled,
from my mercury manual it reads:
Periodic engine flushing will prevent salt or silt deposits from
accumulating in the water passageways. This procedure should also be
preformed whenever an outboard motor is operated in salt water or polluted
water.
Keep the motor in an upright position during and after flushing. This
prevents water from passing into the powerhead through the drive shaft
housing and exhaust ports during the flushing procedure. It also eliminates
the possibility of residual water being trapped in the drive shaft housing
or other passageways.
1. Remove the flushing plug (figure 29) and washer from the "FLUSH" hole.
2. Attach the flushing device from the front of the lower unit according to
manufacture's instructions.
(see figure 30)
3.Connect a garden hose between a water tap and the flushing device.
4.Open the water tap partially-do not use full pressure.
5. Shift into neutral gear, then start motor. Keep engine speed below 1,200
rpm.
6. Adjust water flow so that there is a slight loss of water around the
rubber cups of the flushing device.
7. Check the motor to make sure that water is being discharged from the
"tell-tale" nozzle. If it is not, stop the motor immediately and determine
the cause of the problem.
CAUTION
Flush the motor for at least 5 minutes if used in salt water.
8. Flush motor until discharged water is clear. Stop motor.
9. Close water tap and remove flushing device from lower unit.
==========
This is for my Mercury outboard, and it is similar for the outdive units on
your boat.
==========
good luck.
