Perhaps you two are related? "Grecian" is another name for a "greek". Go get a dictionary. Maybe one of the smarter liberals could read it to you. Hmm. Another dumb **** who was left back 3 times in 9th grade, AND missed the GEDs. Grecian is an adjective. Greek is a noun. Well, "Grecian" may be used as a noun Uh-oh...your mentor doesn't agree with you, Doug. See what happens when you follow the stupid likes of ****tard and basskisser? ...but no one really uses it as one. And Bush's use of it was out of ignorance, not out of knowledge of language or nuance of usage. Bush frequently quotes from the bible...sometimes to a fault. The King James version of the Bible uses the term "Grecian" to describe people of Greece, so it's logical to conclude that Bush picked up the word "Grecian" from the bible. Oh, puh-lease....STOP making these lame excuses for the stunatz in the White house, eh? You're smarter than he is, and that's not much of a compliment! Bush has no language abilities. If he used Grecian, it was out of ignorance. Period. |

NOYB does not expose himself to input other than television, and a very limited selection of input in that genre. He would not know that "grecian" applies to objects, not people. Therefore, your appelation of "possum ****er" sticks like glue. Doug, You're not really going to align yourself with perhaps the dumbest poster to post to rec.boats since...well...ummm, maybe...ever? Are you? An inhabitant of Greece can be called a "Grecian" or a "Greek". Yes, and a psychiatrist trained in hypnotism could conceivably be called a somnambulist, but the word's not in common usage any more. Neither is "Grecian" commonly used to refer to people, just objects. The dictionary is full of words you *could* use. It's up to individual to know which ones are appropriate to use. You're turning into basskisser. Even when confronted by facts which blatantly refute your position, you continue to argue to the bitter end. It's almost laughable. Grecian is an acceptable word to describe someone from Greece. If you maintain that that's not true, then prove it. Your unsupported opinion means nothing. I said "common usage", knucklehead. If your president said "Grecian", it's because he'd just watched a Discovery Channel program about archeologists digging up Grecian urns. Nobody on the planet describes Greeks as Grecians. Not even Greeks themselves, although you probably don't have many Greeks in that white bread town of yours. There are plenty of Greeks on the west coast of florida in the tarpon springs area. If you described them as "Grecian-Americans," they'd be giggling at you for days. This is just the latest attempt of the righties to try to convince anyone that Bush is adept. He ain't. |

If he used Grecian, it was out of ignorance. Period. I'm no longer arguing that Bush used the term properly. However, to imply that it's a "made up" word, or that it's only an adjective and not a noun, is wrong. I still stand my reasoning that the word was in his head from his Bible studies...and not from "a Discovery Channel program about archeologists digging up Grecian urns". In the Bible, it is used as a noun to describe inhabitants of Greece. |

"grecian" is an adjective, ONLY; it is not a noun, and it NEVER refers to persons, only things, e.g. "Ode to a Grecian Urn", a famous poem by John Keats, a famous poet that a dumb hillbilly possum-****er like you has never read because you didn't make it past 5th grade before you had to start farming to support the chillun you and your sister created. Go get a dictionary. I'm sorry to have to tell you, but you don't know how to use a dictionary. |

Don't forget DURING the 2000 campaign, Bush once referred to the inhabitants of Greece as the "Grecians". grecian \Gre"cian\, n. 1. A native or naturalized inhabitant of Greece; a Greek. What's your point? I don't know what bonehead, post-2000, hillbilly dictionary you found that in, but the modern inhabitants of Greece are referred to, in English as Greeks. ONLY as Greeks. Period. Full stop. The end. 'Grecian' is ONLY an adjective, never a noun. Got it, possum-****er? Actually, archeologists use "Grecian" to refer to urns and stone columns. Greeks, not Grecians, live in Greece. Get that through your redneck possum-****er's skull. I'll bet you think modern inhabitants of Israel are Israelites, don't you? Stupid inbred hillbilly... |

Your internet searches Did Bush really say "hispanical", dumb****? Stick to the topic. |

Well, "Grecian" may be used as a noun, but such use is archaic, and certainly nothing a numnutz such as Bush would know. If he used "Grecian" to describe Greeks, it was yet another gaffe on his part. Correct. To pretend otherwise on Bush's behalf is simply evidence of desperation, Correct. a defensive move aimed at convincing someone - anyone - that Bush really has a command of the English language. I vote Libertarian as a matter of principle, because the Republicans and Democrats are both parties of big, intrusive, profligate government. If that choice were not available to me, I would vote for Bush over Kerry in this election, just because the Democrats can't be trusted, ever. I live in California, and the state practically fell apart under a Democrat governor and drunken-sailor Democrat legislature. I HATE both big parties, but if that's the effective choice, the Republicans must prevail in order for common sense to prevail, and I would hold my nose and vote for the ****witted moron Bush if I had to. |
