How is Ophelia affecting the s coast of MA right now? It looks like you are
getting the worst of it right now.

3" rain on Martha's Vineyard yesturday with 15mph E-NE wind. Today
N-NE at 10, cloudy, no rain. No bit deal as it sped on by offshore
beyond Nantucket. Must have been a lot of local flooding inland from
the rain thought.

I came down Thursday afternoon intending to check lines, etc. Worst mistake
I ever made. The Bourne Bridge was shut down both ways due to a chunk of
metal falling from the work area on the upper section falling on some lady's
car. So, the Sagamore was backed up solid including all the back roads. A
trip that normally takes about 35 minutes was 3 hours.

I decided to ride out the "storm" on the boat, as did a few other slip
neighbors. We secured everything, added extra spring lines, folded up the
biminni on Mrs. E's boat and hunkered down for the blow.

Nada. Nothing. Dead calm. Not even a breeze. Apparently Ophelia faked out
all the weather people and turned easterly much more than predicted.

So we all had a late night anticipating a major blow and nothing happened.
It's now Sat afternoon and I am still sitting on the boat deciding whether
to leave or just stay and enjoy the peace and quiet.

With the weather we've had this year you may wish you never said it seldom
snows in FL.
