Ophelia
How is Ophelia affecting the s coast of MA right now? It looks like you are
getting the worst of it right now. JIMinFL (where it seldom snows) |
3" rain on Martha's Vineyard yesturday with 15mph E-NE wind. Today
N-NE at 10, cloudy, no rain. No bit deal as it sped on by offshore beyond Nantucket. Must have been a lot of local flooding inland from the rain thought. |

And it screwed up the A' game yesterday.

You might not get anything more than rain if it continues like this. |

JIMinFL (where it seldom snows) I came down Thursday afternoon intending to check lines, etc. Worst mistake I ever made. The Bourne Bridge was shut down both ways due to a chunk of metal falling from the work area on the upper section falling on some lady's car. So, the Sagamore was backed up solid including all the back roads. A trip that normally takes about 35 minutes was 3 hours. I decided to ride out the "storm" on the boat, as did a few other slip neighbors. We secured everything, added extra spring lines, folded up the biminni on Mrs. E's boat and hunkered down for the blow. Nada. Nothing. Dead calm. Not even a breeze. Apparently Ophelia faked out all the weather people and turned easterly much more than predicted. So we all had a late night anticipating a major blow and nothing happened. It's now Sat afternoon and I am still sitting on the boat deciding whether to leave or just stay and enjoy the peace and quiet. With the weather we've had this year you may wish you never said it seldom snows in FL. Eisboch |
[This followup was posted to rec.boats and a copy was sent to the cited
author.] In article k.net, says... How is Ophelia affecting the s coast of MA right now? It looks like you are getting the worst of it right now. JIMinFL (where it seldom snows) From where my boat and I are located south of Boston on the Fore River it was pretty much a non event to the point where I was considering going fishing in the inner harbor yesterday. I didn't but that was more of a statement on the price of gas then on the weather. -- Mike G. Heirloom Woods www.heirloom-woods.net |
