Smithers using the "Starbuck" handle besmirches the name of the first
mate aboard the Pequod, Captain Ahab's ship in Moby-Dick. The literary
Starbuck was a man of integrity and honor. The one who plagues rec.boats
is a piece of crap.

I recently learned that Moby-Dick was a literary flop when it was first
published. It took over 40 years to be discovered.

Harry,
I am impressed, I had no idea you were a published author. Give the book 5
more years and you will be as famous as Herman Melville.

My "first book" only had a press run of 52, and one of the copies was
mine. It was a giveaway, and from what I remember, it caused a lot of
trouble. About 35 years ago. If anyone discovered a copy now, it would be
good for...kindling. :}

Eisboch,
I don't know if you realize it, but Moby Dick was based upon a true event.

A Moby Dick could certainly be defined as a flop. ;-)

My VHF blew its fuse earlier this week for reasons unknown. Well, I
assumed it did, because it suddenly stopped working. When I took it home
and plugged it into my 12V battery eliminator, it fired right up.

So I went poking around the fuse panel. First accessory fuseholder I
opened had a blown fuse, so I replaced it. No joy with the radio.
Obviously, another fuseholder, so I kept on looking and found the devil.

Now, since every other accessory circuit on the boat was working, what
the hell was NOT working because of the first blown fuse I found?

Grrrr.

Our Klass Klown Krause has reached new heights...

Now he's fabricating boat problems, to prove he has a boat!

What a dimwit! LOL!
