I'm bitched out. :) No more politics. On to boating issues. Ok, first of all, being a hot shot, big time professional engineer does not immunize you from being an idiot. I decided to see if the Chrysler 9.9 hp that came with the Halman would run, so I set it up in a barrel, filled it with water and hooked up the battery cables to a brand new battery and pressed the magic button. FIRE!!!! Honest to god FIRE!!! What I should have done was check to see if the color code was correct and, you guessed it, it wasn't. As a result I set this rectifier on fire. http://www.swsports.org/images/250sailor/P1010012.JPG Anybody have an idea where I can get one of these? Or even if that is what it is, but I've got to think it is. That's a full wave bridge rectifier, looks like a fairly common case - it probably sacrificed itself for the stator windings. Carry the old one in to an electronics supply or surplus house(best bet) and tell them what the application is, or Radio Shack(but they are getting out of the components business it seems) and match it up close. 50 volt, 6-10 amps, 600 PIV should do the job for you. Try www.allelectronics.com too. See if you can find a close match there. Before disconnecting, note the connections ( +, ~, -, & ~) to get it right. Rob |

Rob Looking at your pic again, the green wires should go to ~ & ~ , red to +, & black to - . Rob |
