OT - Pat Robertson?
While we're on the subject of Chavez...
What about that dipship Pat Robertson? First he says very plainly something to the effect of the US government should murder Chavez, then has the nerve to claim he was misinterpreted. So, to make it sound better, he claims "take him out" could also be interpreted as "kidnapping". I feel so much better about an evangelist who proposes our government kidnap foreign Presidents, than about one who sanctions murdering them. *rolls eyes* Should Robertson be arrested? He's stated terrorist threats, publicly. Or does Homeland Scrutiny only arrest foreigners who utter terrorist threats? The man needs to be arrested, to show the world that Bush is not a supporter of terrorism, and that we are capable in our government of living by our own stated example. |

"Harry Krause" wrote in message ... Robertson is a civilian, not a member of the military or a government official, and he needs to be castigated, not prosecuted. He is, however, a strong supporter of Bush, and Bush needs to make a public statement saying that Robertson has made a grievous error in judgment. Several civilians have been detained under the Patriot Act for merely donating money to a suspected terrorist charitable institution, or partner of such. Why does him being a civilian make him more special than other civilians? I wonder if "God" came to him in a dream and suggested he say that Chavez needs to be murdered. But, if that was all well and righteous, why deny it later? It seems he's not being entirely steadfast, for a religious man. Now, even if you don't consider him saying someone ought to kill Chavez to be criminal, what about suggesting a kidnapping? Isn't that conspiracy to commit a felony? Or maybe the regular laws don't apply to friends of Bush. |
