can I wax my new boat ?
So I got my new 2005 Bayliner 175 Capri tonight,
and actually dumped it in the lake tonight, (whew!) So the question I have is - can I wax this thing with regular car wax? (or even something for basecoat/clearcoat) Olympic did a very nice job cleaning it up for me when I picked it up, and I was pretty impressed with it all. However it seems too clean - squeaky clean. So clean that every little scuff leaves a mark. Seems like it needs a wax job. So is this doable? How soon, and what kind of wax ? Thanks ! |

You need to run it up on the beach at full speed, bang it into a dock or two, scrape it up against the garage door three or four times to get that "lived in" look. That will make you feel a lot better about it. PS: Yes - you can wax your boat. I use Maquire's. |

Keeping a good coat of wax on it will make it much easier to remove scuffs
and dock rubs, and will probably provide a measure of protection from oxidation. If you haven't gotten any dock bumpers, get 2 or 3 now before a dock takes a few bites out of your hull. Congrats on the new boat. "Mr Wizzard" wrote in message ... So I got my new 2005 Bayliner 175 Capri tonight, and actually dumped it in the lake tonight, (whew!) Excelent, thanks all for the info. Hehe, good deal on
the 'um pete deal - I can relate. (like my F-150 that once *was* new like this here boat). "John H" wrote in message ... Collonite Fleetwax 885. I think it refers to "aeronautical" use on the
label but this is the one you want. Enjoy your new boat! Dan Mr Wizzard wrote: So I got my new 2005 Bayliner 175 Capri tonight, and actually dumped it in the lake tonight, (whew!)
