I tried trimming up my Johnson yesterday with fresh batteries. It made
a brief Buzz and then stopped. Nothing! I used the screw at the bottom to let pressure off and manually pulled the motor up. I tested the voltage to the pump with a multimeter getting full volts when switched. I fear it might be toast. I priced some online for around 319.00 YIKES! Anywhere I can have it rebuilt? anything left here to test. I might have to rename this barge Money Pit heh |

The nice thing is that you probably have the "external" T&T for that motor... so you can remove the entire unit w/o having to give up boating while fixing it. Those 30 year old 2 strokes are gas hogs but they can make a great mooring
weight. I gave may last old 2 stroke away. I would consider the new high pressure 2 strokes but no more old multiple carbureted hogs for me. For boats/motors, RVs, trucks and cars, try to find something around 10 years old or less. I cost way to much for repairs now and parts are harder to find than ever. -- Bill Kiene Kiene's Fly Shop Sacramento, CA, USA Web site: www.kiene.com wrote in message ... No kidding about the gas usage. We can eat through a 6 gallon remote
on this old thing in about 45 minutes of 3/4 throttle cruising. Unbelieveable. I bought a 13 gallon tank from Overtons I am going to try. 45 minutes of running on todays gas prices + oil = about 24.00 per 6 gallons burned. A typical day trip we will go through about 4-5 tanks. So a day long trip just in fuel is about 60 bux. Thats a lot of bread just boat fuel alone. This isnt a Yacht either just a 27ft pontoon. Crazy! But a new replacement 115 outboard is around $7-8,000 bux. This one is paid for ;-) On Thu, 06 May 2004 05:09:20 GMT, "Bill Kiene" wrote: Those 30 year old 2 strokes are gas hogs but they can make a great mooring weight. I gave may last old 2 stroke away.
