Default Outstanding new waterfront restaurant in Seattle !

Adolph Hitler, Ryan O'Neal, Don Mattingly, Jessica Lange, Carmen Electra,
Luther Vandross and I all have something in common. Along with 1/365th of the
world's population.

In observance thereof, the Mrs and I checked out the new Buena Vista Restaurant
on North Lake Union. (Where the Lakeside formerly stood, just south of the
freshly vacated berth of the "Kalakala"). The restaurant has been open about
three weeks.

If you are going to be in Seattle for Opening Day, with or without your boat,
check this place out! Cuban Creole cuisine. The whalloping bistec was cooked
perfectly- just barely crisped and not quite blackened on the surface, but
tender and juicy within. Mustard and blue cheese topping was oh so sweet! Baked
yams and crisp green beans on the side. Hot fresh bread to dip in oil with
garlic and pineapple. Very special.

Mrs. had a pork chop. She was smiling with every forkful.

I had a drink that was rum and lime juice, with a crushed mint leaf mixed in.
Very nice.

Tres leche flan para postre.

Service was attentive, waitress was charming and intelligent.

Bill was about what you'd expect to pay for a decent, but not extravagantly
priced meal. (Would have been a lot if the food and service wasn't exceptional)

The owner of the restaurant came to our table when we had finished and thanked
us for dining there. He invited us back on Friday or Saturday night, when they
plan to have live Cuban music and dancing. This sort of personal touch will
probably disappear once the place gets going, but it is certainly refreshing
for now.

If you have reciprocal privileges with Puget Sound Yacht Club you could tie up
to their reciprocal dock and walk about 3 minutes down the road to Buena Vista.
There's a dock out back of the restaurant, but I think it's private moorage. If
not, this place will be jammed with boaters once word gets completely around. I
refuse to bring my boat in through the locks just to go to dinner.....so I
didn't check out any moorage options beyond the obvious reciprocal at PSYC.

PNW boaters,,,,,,if you haven't heard about this place already- you heard it
here first. :-)

Ah!...Carmen Electra. There's someone I'd love to take an extended cruise
with.
I'd better make sure we had an autohelm.

Twain?

As in split in two, or a "pair"?

Shania is a beautiful woman, no doubt,
but I think Carmen has her out-Twained.

I'd like to think I had enough love for both.
It would be quite the cruise. Wonder if I'd last all the way to the 'Society
Islands'?

Once I actually managed to get underway, I'd be lucky to last to the end of the
breakwater. :-(

"Cuban Creole"??? Living very close to Miami, I have never heard of that one.
Is that a mix of Cuban and Haitian food or have they made up a new cuisine?

If you haven't already done so, check out the Little
Havana restaurant in the 12000 block of Biscayne Blvd in North Miami.
I've been enjoying lunches and dinneres there for years. It's the real
deal; the place is always full of Cuban families. If you are lucky, you
might get seated in the front dining room near a huge Cuban family party
and be invited to join in.

Very, very reasonable prices, too.
