The Call Came...
"Doug Kanter" wrote in message "Get all the fools on your side and you can be elected to anything." You are absolutely correct, John. Well, I knew as I wrote that that someone with a brain would be able to turn it around. That's half the fun of debate. :-) Here's the rub, though. Common sense would indicate that the republic would benefit by increasing the general education and awareness level of the populace as a whole. But the demographic fact remains that the Democrat Party actually benefits by *increasing* the number of ignorant, indigent, and irresponsible voters. Obviously, these two points represent divergent graph lines, if you will. The question is, which graph line will the country follow? |

The majority of ignorant, irresponsible votes are on your side of the aisle. |

Harry, you go too far sometimes. The right wing guys now have this
lousy post of yours to prove "The left" is "full of liars". Let them do the lying, they are the best at it. Harry Krause wrote: Rice, Administration: Bin Laden Telephoned Us on 10 September, We Didn't Listen Fox News 10 Apr 2004 17:12 GMT Phone Call from Terrorist Leader Warning of Next Day's Attacks "Just Seemed Like More Background Chatter," and "Not Actionable Information" Rice, Administration: Bin Laden Telephoned Us on 10 September, We Didn't Listen Phone Call from Terrorist Leader Warning of Next Day's Attacks "Just Seemed Like More Background Chatter," and "Not Actionable Information" National Security Adviser Condaleeza Rice and other Bush administration officials downplayed the significance of a telephone call received the afternoon of September 10th, 2001, from Osama bin Laden. In the telephone call to Rice's office, Osama bin Laden reportedly advised the Bush administration that the next day, September 11th, in the morning, he was intending to have commercial airliners ("we want a couple of 767s") hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center ("you know, big big ones in New York"), the Pentagon ("your big military headquarters"), the White House ("where Mr. Bush live"), and the US Congress ("that one with big dome, kind of mosque-looking"). The events would take place the next morning sometime around 7:30 or 8:00 am, "depending on how well our guys do schedule." Bin Laden, reports say, then faxed to Rice's office hand-drawn illustrations of airliners crashing into large buildings and maps of the airport terminals where the hijackers would be departing. In addition a bicycle messenger delivered a decorated cake to the NSC offices which showed a crudely drawn, frosting-based map of the USA with starry explosion markers in New York and Washington. Rice, however, has dismissed reports of these contacts. The information received was "indistinct" and not "definite indicators" of any actual threat. Administration officials also reported "great frustration" that such "armchair quarterbacking" was being performed so long after the fact. "Ancient history," said another, adding that "it's not like bin Laden e-mailed us a 3-D computer simulation of their hijackers cutting the pilots throats, which they easily could have done, given todays PC power." FNP reports indicated that, in fact, bin Laden did e-mail NSC offices a 3D simulation of the September 11th attacks, complete with an English-language translation and an accompanying PowerPoint slide presentation illustrating the timeline of the planned hijackings. Officials on hearing the correction expressed surprise and were impressed at the quality of the PowerPoint presentation and vowed to learn from bin Laden's skilled use of fonts and color schemes. Rice reiterated, however, that she would have "moved heaven and earth" to have acted on September 11th, 2001, to protect the USA, had only there have been some way to foresee what was about to have taken place. |

The Call Came...
Honestly, Jim, harry lies so much that we can't tell the difference between
the honest stories and the lies...so we just assume it's all lies. This time, he tried a rope-a-dope by citing Fox News as the source. "Jim" wrote in message ink.net... OK...let me get this straight: We have a president who (among other tricks) implies that farmers have special knowledge about death penalty issues. This is clearly an insult to the audience to which he uttered the line I provided for you. After being insulted in that same fashion, "the people" elect the putz. Now, you somehow think this is an issue involving Democrats? :-) |

I don't recall ever seeing that quote, I have no idea of the context -- which is crucial with a GW quote, as you're well aware -- and I can't see any way that it is relevant to my comments. maybe it's the Easter ham. |

I don't celebrate Easter, so no ham today. I had fresh trout for dinner, baked with a sprinkling of fresh wild garlic from alongside the stream where I caught the fish. If my mother was right, all that fish makes me a genius for another day. Here's the quote you say you never saw. I provided it for you 3 messages back: "Those of us who spent time in the agricultural sector and in the heartland, we understand how unfair the death penalty is." George Bush, Omaha, Neb., Feb. 28, 2001 I can appreciate how context may affect the meaning of words. So, enlighten me. Provide a LIKELY context in which this statement would NOT sound like GWB was pandering to the audience in front of him at the moment. |

In typical liberal fashion, a portion of that quote was removed to fool liberals into believing Bush was pandering to an audience. Here's the original quote: "And those of us who have spent some time in the agricultural sector and in the heartland, understand how unfair the death penalty is -- the death tax is, and we need to get rid of it. " He misspoke...and then corrected himself. The quote was about the "death tax"...not the "death penalty".
