I haven't been since. :) What I find astounding, is the price the Japanese will pay for a big Bluefin. There was a 238 kilogram Bluefin that fetched $80,000. That plain amazes me. http://www.sunsonline.org/trade/proc...8/10300698.htm This was years ago and I don't remember all the exact details, but my wife's cousin had a 50 something foot Hatteras and spent a lot of time billfishing. I talked him into doing the Gloucester Tuna Tournament (this must has been in the late '70s -about the time of the Master Marine/Unification Church deal) and we went. We caught a giant and while the details escape me, it was in the 1,000 class - really big freakin' tuna. When we returned to the dock, there were some Japanese there - they took a sample, talked amongst themselves and offered $35,000 for the fish cash - this was '70s dollars I might add. He fished with that money for four straight years. Later, Tom |
