It sounds like fuel starvation?
Maybe a vacuum leak? Old rubber vacuum lines are leaking? Love those old 2 strokes with all those lovely old worn carburetors. Hell, that motor is almost 40 years old? wow............ Our top outboard repair shop is now too busy to get into and they won't work on anything old that 20 years because of the problem with parts. There are plenty of 10 year old motors and boats out there that are very cheap. ** Soon there will be only single carbs on single and twin cylinder outboards or fuel injection on all 3 to 6 cylinder 4 strokes and 2 strokes. -- Bill Kiene Kiene's Fly Shop Sacramento, CA, USA Web site: www.kiene.com "Ray's Place" wrote in message . .. I have an older (1966) 100 hp Merc that bogs under load. Newer (last year) wires, rotor, cap...rebuilt carbs $ fuel pumps. Compression is good (121-130). Ran fine 'til this year. The points look pitted (they were not replaced), could this be the problem? Thanks, TC |
