Default Grady White experts - why the anomaly?

Below are the performance specs for the 228 Grady White with the F200 Yamaha
followed by those with the F225 Yamaha. The data seem to indicate the F200 is a
better performer. The recommended cruise RPM is 4000, but the F200 is *faster*
than the F225. There is about a 360lb difference in the accessory weight (from
something??), but would this account for the difference?

Also, what's the simple difference between a Yamaha 200 HPDI and the current
engines. Is the HPDI a two or four stroke? I'm looking at an ad for a 2001 GW
228 w/Yamaha 200 HPDI engine for $31865.

I'd bet money on the weight. Take your boat out for a run, take notice
of speed, etc. Then add 360 lbs. at the transom, and try again.

Nearly 400 pounds is two people. Yeah, that would make a diff.
The HDPI is Yamaha's hi-tech two stroke. Air temp makes a difference, as
does wave condition.

My guess is that on the same day, on the same boat, the 225 would be a
hair faster than the 200.

On my Parker, going from a 225 to a 250 isn't worth the trouble. But
going from a 225 to a 300 might be.

BTW, wny buy that clapped out Grady when for about twice the price, you
can buy my almost new Parker? With a flushing toilet, refrigerator, sink
with fresh water, et cetera?

Twice the price is the problem!

Weight has some effect...but not as much as the hardtop on the boat with the
225 (the 200hp-powered boat had no hardtop). Hardtops add weight *and*
drag.

The HPDI is a two stroke direct injected engine and for my money much
better technology.

TWO STROKE RULES!!! :)

Hardtop wind drag and weight are the differences.
HPDI is Yamaha Direct Fuel Injection.
Personally I would pass on this rig as longevity of the HPDI engine vs
maintenance cost is going to be a lot more than a 4 stroke or original fuel
injection 2 stroke.
For $30k you can find a good boat w/ a different engine.

Thanks for the advice. I *really* like the layout of the GW 228. It's got a lot
of room in the back end because of the Grady Transom configuration.
