Aloha folks, First time in this group. I race on a boat here in Hawaii and I've been trying to get the owner to buy the Performance Processor for our otherwise top B&G system so we can hook up a laptop to it. He doesn't want to spend the money. :-} So I'm wondering if the brain trust here might know another way to get an RS232 interface that would cost less? I just looked at the B&G site and from what I can gather from limited information, the data strings are in NMEA format - which would mean that RS232 would be a simple in/out function - the signal levels should be approximately the same (but don't my word for it). It's just a question of finding the right signal pair and building a cable for it. Later, Tom |
