No offense to these brave Cubans, and I'm glad they're here safely, but
these kinds of landings speak volumes about the failure of the Bush
Administration to protect out borders. Virtually anyone who wants to can
land a boat on our shorelines, and offload terrorists carrying dangerous
chemical or biological materials. Or they can run a boat into one of our
harbors and have a nice tactical or even a small strategic nuke aboard.

Speedboat smuggles 13 Cubans into U.S.

MARATHON, Fla. (AP) Thirteen Cuban migrants were picked up by U.S.
Border Patrol agents after being smuggled into the Florida Keys aboard a
speedboat, an official said.

Members of the group said they left from Cuba on Friday night, and the
boat left them on Duck Key, about 90 miles southwest of Miami, around 3
a.m. Saturday, Border Patrol supervisor Kerry Heck said.

The group had made it to shore by the time they were spotted, and will
therefore likely be allowed to stay in the country.

When border agents arrived, the boat was gone, and the group - which
included 11 adults, a 3-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy - gave no
information about their smugglers.

Heck said the group would be taken to a Border Patrol office, then to
the Krome detention center in Miami before they are released. All of
them said they have family members in Florida, who will pick them up
when they are released.

Under the "wet foot, dry foot" policy, Cubans who reach U.S. shores are
generally permitted to stay, while those caught at sea are usually taken
back.

One of the great fallout's of Iraq and Afghan is the Libya folding on WMD's.
We have now found they were at least 10 times more likely to have a nuke
shortly than intelligence sources figured. So maybe we survive longer.

And I'm sure there's a way to protect against that, right? If a large cargo
ship has a 25' walkaround loaded with a suitcase nuke, and they unload it in
the middle of the night, there is no way to differentiate that boat from the
hundreds of others that will be returning to harbor one Saturday after
fishing.

The only way to diminish the threat is to go into the countries where these
guys live and kill every one of the *******s that don't wave an Amercian
flag whenever a column of our M1A1's are rolling by. We invaded
Afghanistan...and the liberals whined. We invaded Iraq, and the liberals
whined some more. We pressured Lybia into disarming, and the liberals
dismissed it as irrelavent. We recently placed sanctions on Syria (likely
just a harbinger of a future military action there), and the liberals say
Bush isn't doing enough. I realize it's an election year, but you guys have
lost your marbles.

We're going to run out of troops long before we run out of potential
terrorists. If you're so hot to trot, why don't you sign up for some
near the front dentistry assignments?

You're sorta like Bush on this matter...talk tough but let the others do
the walk.

I'm a lot like Bush except in one way: I wouldn't have taken the time to
painstakingly differentiate between the "innocents" and the "terrorists".
Following 9/11, the entire Middle East would have been rubble if my finger
was on the button.

No, you don't have to put soldiers on the ground. That's what Sranoff
Attack Weapons and Precision Guided Munitions are for. After-all,
thats what GPS was invented for. Not to get lost fisherman or sailors
home, but to bombs on the ears of bad guys w/o blowing up the baby
milk factory next door.

Sorry to be OT - but at least I teid it in.

"10 times more likely"??????? How and where did THIS come from? How
was a baseline established to come up with this 10 times thing? Please
provide references.
