Sections of the canal that are slab sided include the reach between the
Fremont Bridge and Salmon Bay, as well as the Montlake "cut".
The area where the tragedy occured has a rock embankment.


Chuck, I believe you're correct, The 100' or so spot that tug, and the
other small one that used to be rafted outboard is indeed a rock
embankment.
