The apparent skipper certainly appeared old enough to know better and the boat in question was 45+ feet. It is a virtual certainty that there were no remote engine controls, sometimes in the aft cockpit, but I've never seen them on the foredeck. I could perhaps see some rationale if someone is single handing the boat and is in open water, but not in a 200 ft wide channel with lots of traffic. |
