85-90 last night in the Shasta-Cascade mountains and I averaged 17.9 mpg for the trip. Coming back I had about 700# of new 5.7L MPI engine for the boat settign in the bed of the truck. I have a tendency to exceed the 55 mph speed limit while towing. That's still pretty good. I've occasionally pondered moving to a diesel pick-up for towing and the ability to add a camper. -rick- I love the truck. I have a Palomino B-800 pop up camper on the truck Short bed, crew cab, and the camper weighs about 1100#. With the camper and towing I get about 13.9 according to the truck computer. The camper is really nice, takes about 5 minutes to set up and only is about 8-10" above the truck cab. Has a queen size bed over the cab. They make models for long beds also. Bill |
