Ok ON topic boat weight
 

I mentioned I got a 22' crestliner this year. I need something to haul
it with ( my Chevy Caviler is NOT gonna do it).

I've tried researching on the net, but Crestliner seems to no longer
make cruisers (the boat I got is an 81)

How do I find the weight, and can someone suggest a reasonably good tow
vehicle, that will also serve for daily use around town. Given the
price of gas, millage will be a consideration. I like the looks of the
Buick Rendezvous, but is the towing capacity sufficient?

Boat, trailer, battery (or batteries), fuel, life jackets, etc... will put
this boat at 6000 lbs if not more. You really need to get it weighted at a
local truck scale to know for sure. I would hope you have a friend who has
a truck you could use for a couple of hours. You want something with a
towing capacity of 7000 or more to be able to maintain a decent speed with
it.

Since the Rendezvous equipped with the optional towing package is only rated
for 3500 lbs - Definetly not.

The extended length Trail Blazer / Envoy w/ the V8 is rated to 7000 lbs
which should work fine.

Also I am sure the Expedition, Yukon, etc.. are probably rated about the
same or more and would work fine in an SUV. Otherwise - full size pickup w/
V8 engine.

I doubt it is that heavy. Probably more in the 4500# range. My 21' Inboard
aluminum jetboat (0.190 thick metal) weighs in about #4400 on the trailer
with 67 gallons of gas and fishing gear.

I have to agree with you Bill. My buddy has an X-30 (~22ft) that doesn't
quite hit 5000# with gas.

No, but my Porche Chayene hauls around my 38' Doni quite nicely.

A 22' Crestliner was a heavy big boat. It is not like your aluminum jet
boat. It has a lot more interior and wood in the hull.

Not sure what an X-30 is. My guess is the boat w/ motor and fuel and etc..
will weight in at close to 4500 lbs. The trailer will weight 1500 for a 22'
boat w/ tandum axle.

Even if your right - 3500 lbs towing on a Rendezvous will not work.

Even the trail Blazer will be questionable. I towed my boat with a 1996
Blazer and the mountains above 3500' were bad. My Expedition towed it
great, except the milage sucked. 1999 Expedition 4x4 is for sale ($15000
obo for (ok basskisser)). But my Duramax Crew cab tows like nothing is
there, and gets 18 mpg at 65-70 on the freeway. But the price is not cheap!
