I've got an old and a new photo of the vessel. http://klightspeed.customer.netspace.net.au/nellie-wellers.jpg http://klightspeed.customer.netspace.net.au/nellie-peddells.jpg We've found some records on it from 1898-1907, indicating a Nellie which has an elliptical stern and a raking bow. I don't know a lot about boats, and I'm wondering whether anyone could confirm or deny that the described vessel and the photographed vessel could be one and the same. Don't think so. The old B&W photo of the beached boat shows a counter stern with a transom, as far as I can tell. The profile view doesn't really show enough, but an elliptical stern would not show that corner at gunwhale. Short Wave Sportfishing wrote: For my money, it's not the same vessel. Maybe... the newer photo doesn't show enough of the hull, nor anything to give it's scale. It does have a plumb bow, low freeboard, and approximately the right quarter buttocks angle. I wouldn't make a bet either way. With the cabin extended on the newest photo, the lines are a little different - they are certainly the same type of vessel, that's for sure. I could buy these two as the same vessel http://klightspeed.customer.netspace...s-floating.jpg http://klightspeed.customer.netspace...s-sandbank.jpg and these two being the same vessel http://klightspeed.customer.netspace...s-floating.jpg http://klightspeed.customer.netspace...s-sandbank.jpg but they are two different vessels. If any of that makes sense. Later, Tom |
