Why am I not surprised? Sorry, but I usually don't accept statements of explanation from US military sources in the absence of independent verification. The military lies a lot. We've had example after example of this in Iraq. So you edit the story to fit your agenda. Normal. No, Bill, I just copied a couple of paragraphs, that's all. Tuck in your conspiracy and zip up your fly. When you consistently leave out the relevant paragraphs, then you are fitting it to your agenda. Better pull up your pants, you are exposed. |

John H "All decisions are the result of binary thinking." I'm sorry, John, but I live in a reality-based world, and that means I discount the US military's "explanations" for its screw-ups. The news here was that our military once again opened fire when it shouldn't have. You believe the military's explanation, I don't. You do not stop for a checkpoint with a bunch of armed men, and you think they won't shoot. That's their story. Happened in Watts, many years ago. You think that people would learn to listen to a guy with a gun. |

I'm sure there will be an investigation, and it might actually determine what happened. "Multinational officials" sounds suspiciously like "military apologists" to me. The military has been caught lying about such matters over and over and over in order to cover its backside. |

![]() "Harry Krause" wrote in message I understand there is to be an investigation about the shootings. If it is an honest investigation and not the typical military whitewash, then I will believe the results. And by what criteria will the honesty of the aforementioned investigation be determined? Whether or not the results conform to your predetermination? Pshaw! |

If the driver was a local, was this another setup, to create a friendly fire incident upon which the world press would jump? |

Having driven in Italy, by motorcycle, I can tell you that Italian drivers are the scariest bunch of people on the planet. They like to go fast and stop for nothing. The Italians have wasted a lot of money on their equivalent of 'yield' signs! Of course, it could be that an Italian wasn't driving, in which case I have no idea what was going on.
