I have a 1987 Mercruiser 4 cylinder 160 horse inboard engine with a
heat exchanger for cooling. It has a leak in the cooling system right by the water pump that has been causing me some problems. I brought it to one repair shop and they told me that they see this all the time with this engine and that the valve shaft needs to be replaced. I brought it to another place and they told me that they saw this problem with this engine all the time and it's a gasket that needs to be replaced. The difference in these two solutions is about $1500. Has anyone seend this problem with this engine? |
