Usenet is great. But, most people I know have no idea it even exists. But,
they do know how to use the web and can do a Google. I've tried to get
other boaters I know into rec.boats but there not interested in downloading
messages, posting and dealing with O.T. stuff. I've told them to click on
the Groups tab in Google but they just don't like the format there. IMHO,
The web would be easier for newbies.

I started a usenet style NNTP newsgroup for Mercury inline 6 owners about
1.5 years ago. It's hidden away on the claranet server in the UK. It's had
a total of 7382 posts in that time - most all on topic. It's unmoderated,
but I know the sysop at Claranet and if we ever had a problem he'd take care
of it.
