Sen. Clinton Collapses During Appearance 9 minutes ago BUFFALO, N.Y. - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (news - web sites) collapsed Monday during a speech on Social Security (news - web sites), a radio station reported. Colleen DiPirro, president of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce (news - web sites), told WBEN-AM radio that Clinton told the crowd she was feeling weak and had had a stomach virus. Clinton started to speak then collapsed, DiPirro told the radio station. Clinton, 57, was treated by an emergency crew at the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital, the radio station said. She was scheduled to speak later Monday at a Catholic college about health care. Several hundred people were waiting to hear that address. There were also hundreds of anti-abortion protesters waiting at the college. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Given her 2008 Presidential aspirations, I guess she didn't want to go on record about abortion. It was easier to feign syncope than to face a hostile crowd, and provide soundbites that would come back to nail her in 4 years...especially in light of her new effort to re-invent herself as a social conservative. |
