For all of those who have a 2002 thru 2005 F200-F225 Yamaha 4-stroke
outboards, there is a new safety recall for sticking throttles. This is in addition to the previous recall that replaced the linkage bushings that would stick. See your dealer and mention Technical Bulletin 2004-010. Registered owners will be receiving letters to this effect. Bill Grannis service manager |

Billgran,
I don't have one of these, but thank you for your contributions over the years. Paul "Billgran" wrote in message ... This is a print and save message. I own a new F225 that is due for service.
Thanks for the info. Jim "Billgran" wrote in message ... For all of those who have a 2002 thru 2005 F200-F225 Yamaha 4-stroke outboards, there is a new safety recall for sticking throttles. I'm thinking of repowering and have generally heard good things about them, (notwithstanding the above). What size boat do you have it on and did you repower or buy a new boat w/motor? I ask because the only knock against the F-225 seems to be low end acceleration. Did you notice a big difference? - Sluggo |

I own a 95 22' Grady White. I use it 100% of the time in sal****er. My
concern was mid range efficiency, so I bought the Yamaha Sal****er Series prop. The prop. is in the shop being tweaked. I already noticed a big difference in all aspects (all +++). The old Sal****er Series 225 was not even close to the performance of the new engine. In fairness my old engine had allot of hours on it and was OLD and tired. So far I am very happy. Cost was less than $15,000 for the engine. (still allot). Jim "sluggok9" wrote in message oups.com... Jim and Anna wrote: This is a print and save message. I own a new F225 that is due for service. Thanks for the info. I have an 89 Grady White 24. Seems like I can
get a 225, installed, for uner $15K. I'm on the fence about spending the extra for the new 250. It supposedly has better low end accleration, but I hear they are high while the cost of the 225's are dropping. I'm also looking at the Suzuki 225 & 250. Hope to have it all figured out by the Atlantic Citry boat show first week of Feb. Sluggo Jim and Anna wrote: I own a 95 22' Grady White. I use it 100% of the time in sal****er. A very common complaint is the lack of performance, especially in a following sea, with the 4-stroke 225 that you are considering on a 24' heavy boat. Twin engines would be a better solution, if possible. Bill Grannis service manager |
