the extra for the new 250. It supposedly has better low end
accleration, but I hear they are high while the cost of the 225's are

It might be a good idea to talk to people who have a similar rig. A very
common complaint is the lack of performance, especially in a following sea,
with the 4-stroke 225 that you are considering on a 24' heavy boat. Twin
engines would be a better solution, if possible.
