I read, with great interest, three or four boating/fishing newsgroups. A
couple of them recently ( this one included) have had some discussions about....... "which brand/style/method of tabs is BEST???"......... Just like cars or trucks, or boats....no one ever actually wins any of those arguments. We all have our own preferences and our prejudices. Most clearly, though...is that NONE of the respondents who OWN tabs, ever think that TABS (any brand of tabs) are a bad thing! It doesn't seem to matter WHICH brand you like...all the owners love them. Just a thought.............. for a late Christmas present to yourself and your boat. I have no affiliation with any Tab manufacturers, other than to own a set of them. -- RichG manager, Carolina Skiff Owners Group on MSN http://groups.msn.com/CarolinaSkiffOwners .. |

Harry
How the hell would you know, you better be careful who you give advice to as some of this stuff could save a life some day. You have proven to be the lowest form of lying rubbish online. You say you have owned many boats with these tabs and then give someone advice. Harry you are a liar. Harry, you have been a union slob your entire career, and now give advice. I can understand now why you posted your children have left you and do not associate with you. I can see why. Careful what advice you give out harry, there is no safety social net out on the seas to save someone when you give them your advice. Other than the Coast Guard but that takes time. Harry, what advice did you give to your children,,,, just before they left you for your ex wife promising never to associate with you ever. I mean this is what you said. I've had them on a few boats, and have found them useful under certain conditions, especially in lateral "load balancing." Curious as to why you'd need tabs on a CS...they run pretty flat right out of the box. |

They make a world of difference in certain seas. Since I go out 40 miles by myself more than occasionally, I would recommend them highly, at least for around the size boats that I have. I haven't piloted anything bigger than my boat so that's all the experience I can share. |

RichG,
For customer service, Bennett Taps are reputed to be tops. Paul "RichG" wrote in message m... I read, with great interest, three or four boating/fishing newsgroups. I have had both Bennett and Boat Leveler trim tabs. I installed the
Bennetts on my 30 ft. CC and ran into a small problem with the switch. Bennett was located in St. Clair Shores, MI at the time, a short drive for me. One of plant managers took my into an office and literally drew a new diagram for the electricsl hook up and made it clear that I should come back and see him personally if I had any further problem. It all went well after that. I have Boat Levelers on my 21 footer now and I can't see any difference in performance. One disadvantage to the Bennetts is the lines are a hard plastic material and tend to get brittle. I was on a CC in Atlantic City getting ready to leave for FL and we broke one of the lines. It was almost impossible to "jury rig" the line and we were forced to wait till we could get a proper fitting to repair it. The Boat Levelers use neoprine hose similar to fuel line and are easy to repair. However, the hose is exposed outside the boat and under water. A muskrat chewed mine up once and I repaired it on the trailer in about 20 min. Still, given a choice, I would opt for the Bennetts.. Happy boating, Norm |
