U.S. agency says drugs are safe The Associated Press Saturday, November 20, 2004 WASHINGTON A U.S. Food and Drug Administration official on Friday "categorically" rejected accusations that the agency had failed to protect the public against dangerous drugs, especially Merck's Vioxx painkiller. . "All the drugs that are on the market have risks," said Dr. Steven Galson, acting director of the agency's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. . Appearing on television a day after a critic renewed allegations that the regulatory agency had mishandled the arthritis drug Vioxx, Galson also said that a review was under way of five other medications whose safety was questioned. And it doesn't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime... We're supposed to believe the Bush Administration's FDA, the agency in the back pocket of the drug manufacturers? The same FDA that issued a statement that Vioxx was safe the same day its manufacturer was forced to pull it off the market? There's nothing quite like the faith-based "science" of the Bush administration. Go ahead...take the stuff...Jesus will protect you. Same FDA under Clinton, Bush1, Reagan, Carter, et. al. |
