Hey, are there any inflatables that anyone here would be comfortable
piloting 10-20 miles from shore? (let's say off the southern calif. shore). |

I've seen a few of these really large ones and they tend to look like a cut down version of a conventional boat with a large inflatable collar around the shear line. Seems like a 14,000# boat w/twin 440s should go pretty well indeed. The USCG around here has some center console inflatables w/twin OBs (200+ hp) that run right along. They had no problem at all catching up with my trawler when they wanted to board and inspect. :-) We had a good looking blonde on the back deck that day who was an obvious boating safety hazzard. |

Heh - sounds like you and Doug have similar "safety" problems. Later, Tom ----------- "Angling may be said to be so like the mathematics that it can never be fully learnt..." Sure. 20 miles away from shore is fine as long is you are near a
real boat. If you are asking if one should take an inflatable boat 20 miles offshore by itself, I wouldn't do it inflatable or not. A 10' boat with an outboard isn't all that seaworthy.
