Is big..... Too big to take a powerhead out on to break in at dusk. By 9am the next morning it was all broken in though, we found our way home in the daylight. We live by buey T-21 - that doesn't help much in the dark without a map.... hehe You need a handheld GPS. BTW am I to infer that you're out on Lake Hartwell charging around in a high powered boat when you can't see where you're going?? Fair Skies Doug King |

![]() No, you're to infer that I did a LOT of 1000 - 2000 RPM running with an occaisal forray to small bursts of WOT (in wide open places) as it got into early morning. It was a bright night real good visibility, and I had to conseve gas to make sure it lasted ALL night. My first real hard run at WOT was at 9am when I chased down a small bass boat for 3 miles to get directions. hehe -W "DSK" wrote in message ... Fair Skies Doug King Wussies...I once drove two of the hours between Kansas City and Ponca City, Oklahoma, between midnight and 3 am in a Formula A racing car that had no lights whatsoever. The car had a newly rebuilt engine with no time on it at all, and I was supposed to race it the next day. So I drove behind the van towing the other two cars, and ahead of the truck towing the Class D TR4. Everyone except me thought it was a gas; I was scared to death but too macho to admit it. But driving a boat on the water at night is not something I enjoy, at least not in Ches Bay or its environs. Too hard to see, too much to hit, and radar doesn't necessarily help with really small targets. -- We today have a president of the United States who looks like he is the son of Howdy Doody or Alfred E. Newman, who isn't smarter than either of them, who is arrogant about his ignorance, who is reckless and incompetent, and whose backers are turning the United States into a pariah. What, me worry? |

Riding around at night is a different kind of boating... night sailing is a favorite of mine. It can be a lot of fun... but my viewpoint is also slanted by encounters with a few of the "if I can't see anything, it must be that there's nothing there, so let's go full throttle" persuasion. With the recent hurricane I felt the risk of wood in the water was too great
to do any more WOT than was needed to come somewhat close to a proper break in. That said, when I run at night the lights are on properly - I expect the same of others. -W "DSK" wrote in message news:S_B3d.182043$% Riding around at night is a different kind of boating... night sailing is a favorite of mine. However, you have in the past made references to you drinking and driving a boat. You have also made statements about "turning donuts" in open water to clear lilies. You have demonstrated to me...well...that you just aren't too bright, and this last "episode", only confirms my beliefs. ![]() No, I didn't forget about our last thread... Much like O'Reilly - I let *you* have the last word. ![]() Now if you wish to provoke a new thread... keep it up. ![]() You can clear lillies with a prop. You can also drink and drive a boat, just don;t drive a boat drunk, or worse yet fast and drunk. They don't call a pontoon boat a "party barge" for nothing. -W "Netsock" wrote in message ... ![]() "Netsock" wrote in message - You can "party" without alcohol. And what fun is that? hehe ![]() And with the Ohio standards lowered to .08%, it makes it almost impossible to "drink legally". ![]() Agreed... around here they tell me that the Lake Patrols don't bother things that only troll, and that's what we only do if there's been any drinking on the boat, usually always at night when the lake is empty. The Phantom Menace II is equipped with a 110 perverter and a blender - frozen drinks on demand. My only real fear on a nightime "booze crooze" is that there will be a time that a "real drunk" will be out late at WOT with no lights and I won't have the reaction time to power up and hammer it out of HIS way. Remember - my cousin Tom was killed by a drunk boater who came up on him from behind at WOT. I don't have a fear of ME trolling around at 1000rpm with a daquerior or 4 in me at 9 at night, I have a real fear of drunken "yahoos" who are doing the same thing I am only with the hammer down. During the day drinking on my boat is minimal to non-existant, dehydration sucks on a hot afternoon. The one exception being that I might drop a quick single beer if I'm about to wind up on the wrong end of the tube and wanna deaden the pain nerves a bit. And what exactly is the point to clearing (killing) lillies? Lillies that infest a swim-beach area need to die - that simple. Two of the gifts that our creator endowed man with are the ability to alter his environment to suit his needs - and the ability to make fire. Using both in combo allows rapid defoliation of desired areas. -W |
