Is big.....

Too big to take a powerhead out on to break in at dusk.

By 9am the next morning it was all broken in though, we found our way home
in the daylight.

We live by buey T-21 - that doesn't help much in the dark without a map....

You need a handheld GPS.

BTW am I to infer that you're out on Lake Hartwell charging around in a
high powered boat when you can't see where you're going??

No, you're to infer that I did a LOT of 1000 - 2000 RPM running with an
occaisal forray to small bursts of WOT (in wide open places) as it got into
early morning. It was a bright night real good visibility, and I had to
conseve gas to make sure it lasted ALL night. My first real hard run at WOT
was at 9am when I chased down a small bass boat for 3 miles to get
directions. hehe

Wussies...I once drove two of the hours between Kansas City and Ponca
City, Oklahoma, between midnight and 3 am in a Formula A racing car that
had no lights whatsoever. The car had a newly rebuilt engine with no
time on it at all, and I was supposed to race it the next day. So I
drove behind the van towing the other two cars, and ahead of the truck
towing the Class D TR4. Everyone except me thought it was a gas; I was
scared to death but too macho to admit it.

But driving a boat on the water at night is not something I enjoy, at
least not in Ches Bay or its environs. Too hard to see, too much to hit,
and radar doesn't necessarily help with really small targets.

My bad. I slightly misread your original post.

Riding around at night is a different kind of boating... night sailing
is a favorite of mine. It can be a lot of fun... but my viewpoint is
also slanted by encounters with a few of the "if I can't see anything,
it must be that there's nothing there, so let's go full throttle"
persuasion.

With the recent hurricane I felt the risk of wood in the water was too great
to do any more WOT than was needed to come somewhat close to a proper break
in.

That said, when I run at night the lights are on properly - I expect the
same of others.

Guess you have forgotten about our last thread? That's okay...

However, you have in the past made references to you drinking and driving a
boat. You have also made statements about "turning donuts" in open water to
clear lilies.

You have demonstrated to me...well...that you just aren't too bright, and
this last "episode", only confirms my beliefs.

Glad you don't boat on my lake...

You can clear lillies with a prop. You can also drink and drive a boat, just
don;t drive a boat drunk, or worse yet fast and drunk. They don't call a
pontoon boat a "party barge" for nothing.
