If it is a 351 it may be the merc 255 TR. Is it a four bbl or 2 bbl carb?
The 188 would be underpowered in a 2550. "Matthew T. Adams" dontspam matthewadams at yahoo dot com wrote in message ... Hi all, First post; please forgive if dumb. I recently bought a 1973 Bayliner Saratoga 2550 IO from a private party, and I'm trying to find out information on the engine & drive. The previous owner told me that it's a Ford Windsor 351 Mercruiser. I've grabbed the serial numbers off of the stickers on the port side valve cover and entered it into Mercury's PartsExpress site, and I come up blank. Can anyone decode my serial numbers? Engine: 3601827 Drive: 6183040 According to one of the serial-number-to-model-year cross references I found, it's either a 1971-73 188 HP Model 885, or a 1973 225 HP Model 225. I'm thinking that it's the 188 HP. Am I even close? Where do I find parts for the engine & drive? Thanks, Matthew |
