NONE of the swiftboatvetsfortruth of whatever the hell they're called served with Kerry. jps Hey...*I* was on active duty in the Navy in 1967-1969. *I* must have served with Kerry, too! Joe Parsons |

Joe Parsons So, the difference is that you're not politically motivated to participate in a character assassination pig pile? I find it interesting that 250 guys who didn't know Kerry are willing to step up to heap bad juju on him while NO ONE will show up to vouch for Bush not being AWOL. Irony? I think so! jps |

Not if you take a close look, McCain is an opportunist and quite disingenuous on a number of fronts. McCain of Keating Five fame. Don't you remember the S&L crisis of the 80's. An argument can be made that it should have been the Keating Three. The independent counsel at that time, recommended both McCain and Glenn be dropped from the investigation. It clearly wasn't McCain's finest moment, but perhaps, it made him a better Senator. His judgment hasn't been perfect, but he appears to be a man of honor. http://www.sptimes.com/News/020500/W...his_slat.shtml http://www.azcentral.com/specials/sp...cainbook5.html |

It really is a BORG-like collective. -- "There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. It really is a BORG-like collective. Isn't it amazing that when a Republican screws up the Repbulicans are the ones the mete out the punishment. But, when a Democrat screws up the Democrats all get in line and say it wasn't that bad, integrity doesn't matter. |

Isn't it amazing how these RepubliCraps go after any, even their own,
who don't toe the line? It really is a BORG-like collective. Some of our conservative friends are embarrassed by McCain. Particularly when he condemns sick, twisted, screwball attacks and dirty politics. Nobody notices or cares when the *victim* gripes about the low blows. The offenders can even say, "Oh, there was nothing wrong with distorting the truth, it's just politics so it's OK. What dirty-arsed trick can we think of for next week?" However, when a guy on your own side says, "Hold on, that's untrue and dirty!" it's like that pesty voice of conscience that the offenders have been rationalizing away all along. It's uncomfortable. Nobody wants to get a good look at their own behavior when it is reprehensible. |

Sort of like Zel Miller being ashamed of the tactics of the Democratic
party? That's an excellent comparison, and it's rather frank of you to admit that the dirt is a "tactic" of the Republican party. If there has been a groundswell of liberal attacks on Miller, however, I've missed it. You don't have to go any farther into the world than this little NG to see right wingers insulting McCain ("whiner", etc) for trying to promote some sort of honesty in presidential politics. |
