What a dumb ****! https://ix.cnn.io/audio/20210102-tru...phone-call.mp3 === Beyond stupid, probably criminal. I give Raffensperger a lot of credit for pushing back so forthrightly. How anyone could believe that Trump is not a threat to democracy after that conversation is beyond me. China is a much bigger threat to Democracy than Trump would ever be. This is not Nigeria. === Agreed that China is a long term external threat. Trying to overturn a valid election with bogus claims, threats and intimidation is a very real internal threat. It also sets a dangerous precedent for the future. Hopefully some of the perpetrators will be prosecuted to discourage future attempts. The whole last 4 years sets quite a number of bad precedents. The unrelenting attack on the presidency is far worse that the GW Bush administration, Clinton or even Nixon in the middle of Watergate. There doesn't seem to be anything out of bounds these days. When a TV person can call the president's daughter a "feckless ****" on the air and not even have a ripple in their career, something has gone terribly wrong. Amy Schumer makes Roseanne look like a saint and Roseanne lost her job over an off the air comment that was a lot more innocuous. When they start viciously attacking Biden, his wife and his children, with the most scurrilous comments, don't say it is unprecedented. No, it has been made mainstream. |
