My humble apologies. No problem. I haven't seen a list and accompanying photos/videos of every facility where these people are being stashed. I don't what what the standards are for these facilities. I don't know how many kids were separated from their moms or dads every month under previous presidents and under Trump. What I do know is that separating kids from their parents, siblings, et cetera, is heartbreaking and presents Americans who really care about how their country projects itself to them and to those outside the country a true picture of the horrors of Trump & Thugs, Inc. I know Trump thinks being tough on immigrants helps him with his base. I don't think it will help him with anyone else, and anyone else is still the majority in this country. BTW ... with regard to another issue we discussed, I have learned that indeed, there *is* a federal statute governing the separation of kids and their parents in the detainee facilities. The law says they cannot be separated for more than 72 hours. As long as those kids who have parents are reunited before then, the law is being followed. I don't have any knowledge of how long they are being separated other than one report that indicated they are "typically" reunited in two days or less. I've heard reports that a number of the kids are not returned within 72 hours. Again, we don't have real data. I've also heard that the federal agents handling this matter claim they are being overwhelmed by the tremendous number of kids being detained away from their parents, and that in one facility there were only four social workers looking out over these kids over a 24 hour period. This is a real stink bomb. It is and is not easily solved. Close one bureau draw and another pops open. I suggested to BOA that there are really only a few choices: 1. Repeal all immigration laws and establish open borders. 2. Rewrite immigration laws that make you feel better. 3. Enforce existing immigration laws, which is what Trump is doing. 4. Just keep blaming Trump for everything and be satisfied with the status quo. 5. If you can't decide, just call Trump a pig and call it a day. |

Where's the doubling coming from? Sounds like more liberal media BS designed to rouse the rabble. |

It's the best issue yet so far ... better than collusion with Russians, better than meeting with Kim, even better than Stormy Daniels or golden showers when one considers the mid-terms rapidly approaching. The longer this emotionally charged issue smacks the public in the face everyday, the better it is for the Dems in November. Now, *who* is really playing politics or "negotiating" using innocent kids as their tool? |

Several estimates state Trump will have 20,000 Latino kids in detention/concentration camps by August. That seems to represent a doubling of the number are there now. That should infuriate all but the basest of Trump's base. But I am sure racist pigs like Herring will still favor it. There are more possibilities than you specify. Trump could end the current practice of incarcerating Latino kids with one phone call. And do what with them? Keep them with their parents until decent temporary housing can be found for them, and if there isn't enough, build more. Perhaps on military bases, where there is plentiful "free" land. That's just an idea. Pretty much status quo then. May as well just declare open borders. Fat Harry loves to give away stuff that isn't his to give away. -- x |
