The New Haven Coliseum is no more.

Imploded this morning - big pile of rubble now.

I heard that was coming. I never even saw the damned building. When I
was growing up in New Haven, we had the New Haven Area, which I suspect
is long gone. It was in the Arena that I first saw Ray Charles in a
concert, and attended EHL games, wrestling matches, learned to ice skate
and where the boat shows were held for some years.

The Arena was privately owned by the Podoloff family, principally
Maurice, who was also NBA commissioner. His son, Dickie, was a boat
dealer and my father's closest friend.

I haven't been back to New Haven in a long time, a dozen years at least.

Er, New Haven ARENA, not Area. Sheesh. Hang around this place long
enough and you catch a dose of right-wing stupidity. :}

You're far too neat for anything like that, Harry!
