....blame it on the Governor, not the city or the school board!

https://baltimorebrew.com/2018/01/04...als-fire-back/

Of course, the city does have a new detention center.

And that is no joke.

The leadership of Baltimore and its school system should be proud.

Well, the Republican governor is getting all the blame, so he must be in charge of Baltimore's
budget. Isn't that the way it's done? Wasn't Michigan's governor the one responsible for Flint's
lead problem?

That is the standard practice for these democrat run **** holes. They
just start running up the chain of command until they can find a
republican to blame, then it is all his fault.
Flint is a great example. Once the dust settled and the hysteria died
down, the real problem was the Flint city water managers simply failed
to put the anticorrosive chemicals in that the Detroit system was
using for essentially the same water.

I suppose some of the blame for the collapse of the cities goes to
LBJs great society. He piled up all of the welfare money in big
cities, drawing the largely unemployables into the cities. The
employed moved out and left a hollowed out shell without a tax base to
support themselves.
Excessive taxation drove out what little low skilled (manufacturing)
employment opportunity was left in those places.
Harry is the first one to say, without a college degree, employment in
the city is hard to find these days.

Most of the funds to operate Baltimore schools come from the state,
which has not been keeping up with costs for several years.

And what have the schools done with the funds? 50% of California budget
goes to schools. And they still cry for more. Number 20 in spending per
student. Number 40 in performance. With the largest state, we should at
least get quantity discounts. Unfortunately, the discount is student
performance.

It is not a money problem. The state gave them $66 million 2 years ago
and the school system was so tied up with bureaucracy and incompetence
that they never actually contracted with the HVAC companies to fix
these systems. Now they have to give the money back because of a law
that says if you give you money, we expect you to spend it.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/education/bs-md-ci-schools-money-returned-20180104-story.html

They are still spending $17,144 per student and they are claiming a
71% graduation rate but the B'more Sun says an alarming number of
those students are still functionally illiterate. It is not required
that you show any competency on tests to graduate if you are in the
"bridge" program and that is 37% of the graduates.

Harry, as usual, is full of ****. Baltimore spends much more money per student than does Fairfax
County, yet has tremendous problems. It's sure as hell not the governor's fault.

Thank you for adding some facts to the discussion. As usual, Krause is laying blame where the first
Republican up the chain lies instead of where the fault lies.
